Andy Murdock

Managing Director

Andy is a GIS and remote sensing consultant and has 18 years of experience in the geospatial industry. He set up apmgeo in 2013 to help organisations make more from maps and location information. He has extensive knowledge of the application of industry standard GIS software and open source technologies and he has reviewed and advised on GIS strategy and implementation for several major UK companies and public bodies. He also has extensive international experience through many projects for World Bank, UN agencies and the international donor community.

For 10 years prior to his current role he led a team of developers and analysts at the GeoData Institute managing a range of national data capture, modelling and analysis projects using GIS and remote sensing.

Andy is the project manager of OpenPopGrid (www.openpopgrid.geodata.soton.ac.uk) a free 10m gridded population datasets for England and Wales.

He is a Chartered Geographer and an Ordnance Survey Accredited Consultants. Andy also sits on the Royal Geographical Society’s Panel of Final Assessors for Chartered Geographer (GIS) applications.

Kay Pallaris

Associate | Urban Planning & Design

Kay is the founding director of Mapping Futures https://mappingfutures.org/ She is a Spatial Researcher and Sustainable Development Practitioner with over 15 years experience working in the development and regeneration sectors.

She holds a masters in Environmental Modelling and in Urban Design in Development. As a Chartered Geographer, her work focuses on the applied science of geographic enquiry and spatial analysis to develop evidence-based planning and conceptual design strategies. Previously, Kay worked as a programme manager for the London Olympics for 7 years, joining the ODA in 2006 after working in various NGO, local government and private practice settings.

apmgeo are partnering with Mapping Futures to deliver a neighbourhood assessment pack for urban planning and design. Kay has also recently supported us to deliver user requirements analysis and strategy development for public transportation mapping.

Rachel Murdock

Commercial Director

Starting out as a road safety researcher, before moving to a multi-national engineering consultancy to manage their road safety team, Rachel has a Geography Degree and has gained more than 20 years experience as a programme and project manager.

Most recently she managed a portfolio of transport related projects for clients including Heathrow, Highways England and various local authority clients. Specialising in managing complex multi-million-pound, multi-disciplinary projects, Rachel will use her experience to lead on business development and commercial aspects of the company and will also project manage a new Software as a Service mapping solution.

Community Projects

Last year we supported the following charities with donations: Emmaus, Scouts, Barnardos. Our staff are also involved in a variety of other voluntary projects, such as practical nature conservation and wildlife recording, including providing field support to the Solent Wader Ringing Group for their cannon netting of waders.
